Dr. Perni joined BillionToOne after more than 20 years at Bon Secours Mercy Health (Ohio), where he served as Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Regional Division Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine while caring for patients navigating complex pregnancy challenges. Over the last two decades, he has also consulted for leading biotechnology companies, including NTD Labs, PerkinElmer, and Eurofins, driving innovation at the intersection of genetics and obstetrics.

An award-winning researcher and published author, Dr. Perni has received the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine Award for Research Excellence and the Michael Burnhill Memorial Research Award from the International Infectious Disease Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed his Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at The Weill Medical College of Cornell University and has a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business, where he graduated with Distinction.
